Heartbeat Epic Series Cymbal Set 16/20/22/24 is an easy order option which includes 16″ Epic hi-hats, 20 and 22″ Epic crashes and a 24″ Epic ride.
- The Epic series is fully lathed like the Heartbeat Classic series, but features a smaller bell and special lathing and hammering. The rich, warm and natural sounds are ideal when a mellow sound is desired. The buttery, dark and washy sounds are not only perfect for today’s worship music, but also well suited for jazz and venues requiring a quieter sound.
- Epic cymbals have been known to reduce cymbal volume by 25% when compared to typical store bought machine made cymbals.

My church’s kit previously had Zildjian Sweet and Dark crashes, which sounded great but were quite bright and overpowered everything, and the Sabian Vanguard ride was a great ride but just a ride. When one cracked I took the opportunity to upgrade, so I started looking into what the Worship community was using and almost settled on the “other” brand from Istanbul… but then I stumbled across Heartbeat. Glad I did.
Bought this set after watching a few videos and hoped they were what I wanted – lower volume, darker cymbals that were present but better balanced for CCW.
When I they arrived I liked them, but made the mistake of keeping the Cympads I’d bought to try to quiet the previous cymbals on the stands. Due to the smaller bell on the Heartbeats, these really muffled the sound even before the cymbal had a chance to open up.
After swapping in normal felts, both our weekly drummer and I were blown away. The ride is simply glorious and the full set is exactly what I’d hoped for. They are MUCH quieter than our old set; I haven’t measured but the 25% mentioned in the description seems conservative – I went from trying everything to tame cymbal bleed (gates, drastic EQ, additional acoustic treatment, etc) to turning the overheads WAY up and finally being fully in control.
They sound great, look great, and the one minor issue I had was taken care of quickly and perfectly by the folks at Heartbeat. Very happy customer, highly recommend this brand and kit!
