Bio

Arlen Jenks better known as “RJ” was born and raised in Michigan. He began to take an interest in playing the drums at the age of 15. Being mostly self taught in the beginning, RJ bought his first drum set at the age of 16, and began to play with local musicians and friends throughout his high school years.

In 1991 RJ was hired by the Young American Showcase organization, a company dedicated to teaching young kids the dangers of drugs and alcohol. There, he spent the next two years touring with several different bands, performing over 700 live concerts throughout the country. Late in 1993 RJ moved to Clearwater, Florida to further pursue his career in music. While there he was a member of Regency Recording Artist’s, Arsenal, a Heavy Metal Christian Rock band based out of Tampa Bay, Florida. He later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where for 8 year’s he was one of the house drummers for Evangel Temple Assembly of God.

Currently RJ resides in Macclenny, Florida where he is the house drummer for Destiny People Worship Center. RJ is a member of the Ascension Worship Network of Musicians, an organization dedicated to facilitating the musical needs of the local church. With a passion for drumming and music in general, RJ’s personal goal is to share what he has learned throughout his music career and to help transform the way younger musician’s view their musical gifts, by eliminating the competitive element and concentrating on coming together and learning from each other. RJ is currently preparing to play on several recording projects for local and out of state artist’s.

RJ has had the privilege to study drums privately under the late, great jazz drummer Jimmy Glen, as well as John Citron, and world renowned jazz, fusion drummer Dave Weckl. RJ is currently studying privately with professional drummer and educator Adam Tuminaro in Orlando.
