Duncan Africa Acoustic Guitars are a result of The DuncanAfrica Society. The Society is a unique, registered charity in Canada whose purpose is to alleviate poverty. The vision was born from a combination of master luthier Jay Duncan’s desire to bring an affordable version of his instruments to a larger market and his world view that reflects God’s sense of justice and compassion for the poor and suffering. His dream resulted in the creation of the DuncanAfrica Society in April 2005.

In 2007, the Suubi Trade School was birthed in a dusty, impoverished village in Uganda, East Africa. The focus of this school is to enable young people to have a sustainable income and way of life by building world class guitars. Today, DuncanAfrica builds exquisite acoustic guitars and connects these young luthiers to an overseas market.  They state that: “We believe our guitars to be among the finest guitars available today, especially at the prices for which they are offered.”

There are three series available:

Quite possibly the greatest value in instruments today, we offer both our Selah and Jubilee model guitars in our affordable Jericho Series. These hand-made, solid wood guitars are rich with tone, quality, and playability without unnecessary appointments. Each guitar includes a case and comes with a Schatten passive pickup pre-installed.

The perfect mix of professional features, inspired design, and incredible value. Hand-made featuring all solid woods, the Suubi line of guitars this series offers three options for tops, (Sitka Spruce, Engelmann Spruce, Western Red Cedar), and four options for the back and sides, (Mahogany / Sapele, Mugavu, Indian Rosewood, Western Bigleaf Maple). Other features to note are the one piece Mahogany neck with Rosewood veneer and all wood inlaid logo, bone nut and saddle, Ebony fingerboard bridge and bridge pins, satin finish, deluxe DuncanAfrica hard shell case and five year limited warranty.

The Artisan is for those who want it all.  Our best woods, a high gloss finish, mother of pearl logo and fingerboard dots are just the beginning. The Artisan series carry a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.  These are truly instruments that can be handed down from generation to generation.
